Our copy of the Anglo-Saxon Finglesham belt (500–700 AD) is cast in solid bronze using a lost wax technique, which makes it ideal for reenactors wanting an authentic replica.
The Finglesham Anglo-Saxon cemetery is in Kent, South East England and holds burials from the 6th to 8th century. The original buckle is currently in the collection of the Ashmolean Museum.
Borrowing heavily from Scandinavian designs, this belt-buckle depicts a naked Wodan/Odin wearing a horned-helmet, wielding spears in either hand. This piece may have belonged to a retainer of an Anglo-Saxon lord.
Measurements:
Buckle L= 7.3 cm, W= 3 cm, Max. Strap Width= 2.5 cm
