This mount is modelled after one found at a Hungarian site and currently held at the Egri museum. It is dated to the 10th century. These adjoining pieces are found along the length of a strap to add decoration and strengthen the leather. They can be combined with the other variety of mounts to create a complete Viking pouch.
Available as a set of 5 (1 strap end, 4 mounts). Measurements: Strap end - L = 36mm, W= 6mm Mounts - L = 15mm, W= 6mm
This type of pouch called a Tarsoly are highly decorated with brass fittings and were considered status symbols. Tarsoly have been found as far away as Birka Sweden and are common in Hungary, Moravia and Kievan Rus settlements.
