The "Charles de Blois" Pourpoint draws inspiration from the iconic 14th-century garment worn by Duke Charles de Blois, whose original pourpoint is one of the best-preserved examples of medieval attire, currently preserved in the Musée des Tissus in Lyon.
Crafted in both linen and wool, the linen option features an outer layer of 100% Baltic linen at 220 GSM and an inner layer of 100% cotton canvas. The wool option is crafted from 100% recycled wool.
The pourpoint was originally a practical garment worn under armor to protect knights and soldiers by absorbing impacts and preventing chafing. Over time, it became a stylish outer garment for men across different social levels. The Charles de Blois pourpoint reflects 14th-century fashion with its close-fitting, tailored, and quilted design featuring narrow channels, buttons, and eyelets for attaching hose. This fitted construction combined both elegance and freedom of movement, highlighting medieval craftsmanship and evolving body-conscious style.
This pourpoint is designed to replicate historic details, providing a fitted, comfortable layer that can be worn under armor or alone for formal reenactments. It includes waist eyelets for attaching hose, enhancing authenticity. Originally a symbol of nobility and knighthood, the pourpoint was made from fine materials to show status and prestige.
Available in sizes S, M, L, XL, and XXL, the Charles de Blois Pourpoint brings the essence of medieval tailoring to life. Perfect for portraying knights, soldiers, and noblemen, this garment is an excellent choice for those looking to capture the historical depth and detail of 14th-century European attire.
